CirculEC Monitoring Meeting Held at Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT)

Date: 09.10.2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan - 9 October 2025

Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) successfully hosted a pivotal Monitoring Meeting of the EU-funded CirculEC Project - "Development of innovative curricula and modules in Circular Economy and Sustainable Development" (Erasmus+ Project No. 101129169) on 9 October 2025.

Held in hybrid format, the event gathered 50+ professors, experts, and academic leaders from 11 Central Asian universities (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan) alongside three European partner institutions. The meeting served as an important platform to evaluate progress on embedding Circular Economy principles into bachelor's, master's, and lifelong learning programs across the region.

Participants explored WIUT's contributions to the project, including the development and delivery of new and updated sustainability-focused modules, shared best practices in green transformation, and strengthened academic partnerships between Europe and Central Asia.

The CirculEC project aims to prepare over 1,100 students to lead Central Asia's transition to a green and circular economy by developing 27 new modules and modernizing 27 existing courses across partner universities.

This monitoring event is part of a regional tour that began in Kazakhstan and will conclude in Turkmenistan in November 2025, ensuring the project's outcomes are effective, aligned, and adaptable across diverse educational contexts.

Together, partners reinforced their shared commitment to shaping a circular, resilient, and sustainable Central Asia.
