Development of innovative curricula and modules in Circular Economy and Sustainable Development

Karaganda, Kazakhstan - 6-7 October 2025

The CirculEC consortium successfully completed a two-day Pilot Monitoring Meeting hosted by Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz (KarUK) on October 6-7, 2025. The event brought together representatives from EU partner universities and Central Asian institutions to assess the pilot implementation of new and updated circular economy modules developed under the Erasmus+ CirculEC Project - "Development of innovative curricula and modules in Circular Economy and Sustainable Development."

The meeting served as a major milestone in evaluating how partner universities-including CAU, EKTU, ABU, KoKSU and others-have integrated innovative circular economy content into bachelor's, master's, and lifelong learning programs. EU experts provided detailed feedback on module quality, alignment with European standards, practical relevance, and the coherence of course syllabi.

Stakeholders from the private sector, NGOs, and public institutions also contributed insights, strengthening the connection between academia and real-world green transition challenges. This collaborative exchange ensures that the newly developed curricula reflect regional needs, labor market priorities, and global sustainability trends.

The Pilot Monitoring Meeting in Karaganda represents a critical step toward embedding modern, interdisciplinary circular economy education across Central Asia-empowering future specialists with the knowledge and skills required for a circular and resilient economy.
